HABITAT 67

I found this really interesting building located in Montreal, Canada. It was designed by the Israeli Moshe Safdie, and it was for his thesis for McGill University. I thought it was a really unusual piece of architecture, so I decided to include it in my blog. It was to integrate the diversity of private houses with the size of a modern apartment building. Its aim was to show how cities would look and how people would live if the cities in the world continue to grow and be more crowded.

It includes 354 prefabricated homes all identical, made in concrete. Each home with its terrace or garden measures from 20 to 90 m2.

They were built for people to live in them, but it was not possible because it was more expensive than they originally thought, so they didn't manage to finish the project. Nowadays it is a very visited tourist attraction in Montreal.
